Microsoft’s Unified Communications Strategy & Office Communicator Enabled Devices

In January 2006 Microsoft announced that it was merging its Exchange Server and Real-Time Collaborations groups to form the Unified Communications Group. Its stated mission is to deliver innovative business communications solutions that provide rich, unified communication capabilities that integrate seamlessly with business applications and processes. These communication solutions will include applications, APIs, and devices.

You may assume that one of these devices is a "phone" - or is it?
