Cisco Sparks a Slew of News by UCStrategies

This week, Cisco Spark™ announced several breakthroughs around security, compliance and analytics, all of which are available through the new Cisco Spark Control Hub, the new Pro Pack and third-party integrations.

Cisco Spark:

  • delivers end-to-end message encryption plus compliance features;
  • adds "fluid analytics," allowing administrators to see if any users are experiencing reduced call quality and whether the problem is affecting others;
  • adds mobile devices security on non-managed devices;
  • adds data security equivalent to on-premises storage.
This week's Industry Buzz podcast drills down into the significance of these announcements for Cisco customers and the industry. Dave Michels moderates the conversation, with BCStrategies Experts Roberta J. FoxPhil Edholm, JR SimmonsDon Van Doren, Kevin Kieller and David Smith

In case you don't get to the 34'56" mark in the podcast, here are my key points:
- Great to see continued innovation and advancement by Cisco
- However, business outcomes matter most and Cisco Spark new features still have something to prove in terms of paid adoption and demonstrated ability to improve user experience
- Cisco still needs to make acquisition of a "complete solution" including PSTN calling easier. Now it's two vendors and two contracts
- new security encryption features are great; I would suggest other key vendors also do security well
- email is not going away anytime soon. Think about what is used to invite person to join Spark or if you forget your Spark password (hint: it is email)
