2:00 - 2:45 p.m. BCStrategies Breakout - Contact Center Update - BCStrategies Experts Blair Pleasant, Art Rosenberg, Jon Arnold & Don Van Doren - Pacifica Ballroom
Companies are embracing changes in how they interact with their customers. Expectations have changed, and customers want to be served on their terms, with the channels they choose. Contact center managers are adopting new technology, processes, and operations to meet these shifts. Mobile applications, social media, omnichannel, unified communications tools, customer experience management, and other emerging technologies and capabilities bring both opportunities and challenges.

In this session, Blair Pleasant, Art Rosenberg, Jon Arnold and Don Van Doren will explore these changes and their implications for Enterprises and Consultants. They will look at the trends, the new technologies, and how they will impact contact centers in the future.
2:00 - 2:45 p.m. BCStrategies Breakout - VoIPMaggedon - Voice Quality Challenges in the Age of VoIP - BCStrategies Expert Phil Edholm - Magnolia
VoIP changes the fundamental way that real-time media is sent over the network. Unfortunately, the integration of VoIP into the traditional TDM infrastructure has created a number of significant quality issues. This session will discuss how VoIP and the integration to the PSTN is creating quality issues and detail the specific implementation issues that are causing voice quality. The session will detail a quantitative analysis of why VoIP-based quality issues are becoming more prevalent today and why the issue is accelerating exponentially over the next few years. Finally, the session will cover what vendors, end users, channels, carriers, and the industry can and should be doing to mitigate the issues and optimize the quality of the delivered voice experience for their users.
2:45 - 3:00 p.m. Break
3:00 - 3:45 p.m. BCStrategies Breakout - Microsoft UC: What Works and What Doesn't - BCStrategies Expert Kevin Kieller - Pacifica Ballroom
According to multiple surveys, almost all North American enterprises are considering Microsoft UC. This session aims to strip away the "marketing fluff" in order to identify where Microsoft UC provides value and where Microsoft UC leads to disappointment. Lync, Skype for Business, Office 365, Exchange UM will be examined and dissected. The latest Microsoft Cloud UC Roadmap will be reviewed and reality checked.
3:00 - 3:45 p.m. BCStrategies Breakout - Wireless Technologies You’ll Need to Know About for the Next Five Years - BCStrategies Expert Michael Finneran - Magnolia
While there has been little change in the adoption of mobile UC clients, developments in the mobile space continue at a torrid pace. Carrier trials with voice over LTE (VoLTE) are scheduled for early next year, the mobile operators are talking about LTE over Unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum which could have a major impact on enterprise Wi-Fi networks, and the list goes on. In this session, BCStrategies Expert Michael Finneran will bring you up to date on developments in the mobile space, where the impacts will be felt, and what you need to know about them.

11:20 - Noon Keynote - "Current Landscape and Future State of UCaaS" - Clark Peterson, President, Business Solutions Group, Vonage - Pacifica Ballroom

The migration to Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) and the Cloud has been referred to as the biggest technology refresh in communications history. UCaaS is predicted to be a $10 Billion market, growing at over 25% per year over the next five years. This growth is driven by consumers of traditional business telephony adopting cloud-based technology solutions which integrate voice, video, messaging, and presence with other mission critical business applications. These consumers range from SMBs to mid-market companies and large enterprises, and span a broad spectrum of industry verticals.

In this keynote presentation, Clark Peterson, President of Vonage’s Business Solutions Group, will address the current landscape and the future state of UCaaS. He will discuss the forces driving the next wave of cloud communications technology, the benefits of this technology to businesses large and small, and Vonage’s position as a clear leader in cloud communications.

4:30 - 5:00 p.m. Special Session - Using Workplace Transformation to Energize UC - BCStrategies Expert Joseph Williams & Cisco Partner Manager Myndi Garrett - Pacifica Ballroom
UC sales are not meeting expectations set in the 2010 launch cycle. Why not? Evidence is that a sales focus on dialtone/PBX/conferencing replacement is not compelling to CIOs, who will not prioritize a UC project that only replaces services that already function adequately. Workplace transformation, which relies on UC to enable the necessary changes, attracts support from business units like sales, HR, compliance, real estate, and recruiting - and results in significantly higher prioritization for UC projects. Suggested approaches are discussed.
5:00 - 5:30 p.m. Special Session - The Changing Role of IT and The Shift in Technology Decision-Making - BCStrategies Experts Jon Arnold and Jim Burton
The days of IT setting the technology agenda for enterprises are over, as the traditional model of capital-intensive spending for long-term assets has been set on its head. Today’s IT environment needs to be agile to keep pace with the ever-changing forms of communications technology. As needs shift from standalone point products to integrated solutions like UC, the decision-making process has become far more collaborative, with value being defined by business outcomes rather than new IT efficiencies. Not only must IT decision-makers be adept at buying the right technology from the right vendor, but also in selling all this internally to management, and ultimately to employees as end users. These realities will be addressed during this session, with a focus on how IT needs to adapt and even reinvent to remain vital in a time of constant change.

And new technologies like WebRTC are increasing these changes. This session will focus on the tools that are available to help manage and operate the system in a more efficient and effective way. Form tools for security, BYOD, Configuration and Operation to Troubleshooting, there are options. Testimonial

"I am not aware of any conference where I can be brought up-to-date on all the pertinent categories that make up Unified Communications as the UC Summit. I think it's invaluable. Years ago, Cloud was briefly mentioned and now it's a standard. This year, Microsoft emerged. Next year it may be Google. Social Networking will strengthen as youth enter the workforce. Will the mobile phone / tablet become the ultimate end-point? Not only do I leave with a clearer vision, I believe the sponsors come back educated and find value in the conference as a design tool.
