BroadSoft, Inc. has recently announced the release of its cloud-based, hosted infrastructure, BroadCloud. BroadCloud will serve as the foundation for BroadSoft's Software-as-a-Service communications, and will feature a comprehensive set of Unified Communications services.

The BroadCloud services will provide the highest-valued Unified Communications services to fixed-line, mobile, and cable service providers for their customers. It will include the current SaaS products provided by BroadSoft, along with new UC services, including: Instant Messaging and Presence, Video, Web Collaboration, BroadCloud PacketSmart (a network assessment and monitoring service), and BroadCloud Casabi, a solution focused on the consumer that delivers group SMS, personalized content, and organizational tools.

Thanks to BroadSoft's acquisition of Casabi, BroadCloud's infrastructure allows carriers to minimize the time to market for delivering UC services, as well as providing a comprehensive portfolio of services. It also extends BroadSoft's online marketplace distribution platform, Xtended, by allowing service customers to access, purchase, and use communication services within a carrier-branded Marketplace.

"This was inevitable and leverages many aspects of the Broadsoft portfolio," says Dave Michels of UCStrategies. "With Broadcloud, Broadsoft itself becomes a wholesale service provider with a mature, robust offering with greater access now to UC tools and capabilities. The app store concept of Xtended provides a unique solution for service providers to customize their branded offering as well as for end users to customize with CEBP."
