Logitech Acquires Mirial by Robbie Pleasant

Logitech International has recently acquired Mirial, a Milan-based provider of video conferencing solutions. With this acquisition, Logitech's LifeSize division can now offer a more comprehensive portfolio of universal video collaboration solutions.

Along with its video conferencing solutions, Mirial can provide LifeSize with leadership in extending open and interoperable video collaboration solutions to a wide variety of mobile devices, thanks to Mirial's video software clients for both Mac and PC computers, client/server enterprise video software solutions, and service provider offerings.

"The presence of mobile video conferencing in the consumer space is driving a demand for similar capabilities in enterprise video conferencing," says John Bartlett of UCStrategies. "This move by Logitech / LifeSize ensures they have an answer for this demand.  My view is that mobile video conferencing will remain a checkbox item for a year or more yet and not get real use until we see a much more expanded footprint of 4G cellular service available to support it."

Mirial products will be made available through LifeSize immediately, and will be integrated into future LifeSize products and services.
