NEC and CounterPath Announce New Mobile UC Solution
CounterPath Corporation and NEC Unified Solutions have recently introduced NEC's Smart Mobile Client. This solution for Fixed-Mobile Convergence is intended to extend the functionality and capabilities of NEC communication servers to popular and leading smart phones.
The Smart Mobile Client software compliments existing smartphone usage patterns, rather than requiring employees to modify their preferences. It automatically routes calls through the company's communications server, using the least-cost-routing settings.
"This is an important win for CounterPath, and an expansion for NEC Unified (formerly NEC Phillips) in the EMEA market," says Michael Finneran, UCStrategies UC Expert. "With the CounterPath addition, NEC now has one more tool in their mobile UC kit."
Smart Mobile Client 2.2 is now available for iS3000 and SIP@Net communications servers, and 3.0 is expected in early 2011 for NEC's UNIVERGE SV8300 and SV8500 platforms. The software supports Nokia Symbian, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile platforms, along with the iPhone and Android via the Web client.
