Polycom's line of telepresence solutions has recently expanded, thanks to the addition of three new offerings: the EagleEye Director room camera tracking system, the HDX 4500 executive desktop telepresence system, and the mobile telepresence m100 solution. With these, Polycom hopes to leverage its UC Intelligent Core technology and promote and extend the use of telepresence and unified communications.

The Polycom EagleEye director takes room-based telepresence and uses voice triangulation, face-finding technology, and a dual-tracking camera system to deliver a personalized face-to-face telepresence experience in any conference room by keeping the speaker in the focus. With it, one no longer has to make camera adjustments during conferences with multiple participants, keeping conferences simple and clear.

The HDX 4500 desktop telepresence solution is an all-in-one solution designed to increase productivity for small groups and business executives. It delivers HD quality videos with almost half the bandwidth of competing solutions and eliminates the need for peripherals. It's interoperable with PolycomOpen Collaboration Network partners, including Microsoft, HP, and IBM.

With the Polycom Telepresence m100, PC-based telepresence becomes portable, allowing users to share content in video conferences and connect to any standards-based telepresence solutions. It's loaded onto any PC, and has a point-and-click interface to make calls from stored lists with ease.

"The EagleEye Director solves a very real problem with video conferencing in conference rooms," says John Bartlett of UCStrategies. "The usual setup shows a group of people sitting around a conference table and it is difficult to see who is talking or what is going on because the faces are so small in the picture. The EagleEye Director solves this problem in a very elegant way, bringing each room speaker front and center as they speak as if they were on their own dedicated telepresence endpoint. I expect this product to make a significant impact on the quality of video calls in conference room environments."

The EagleEye Director and HDX4500 will be available near the end of April through certified channel partners, and will cost $8,499 and $11,999 respectively. Telepresence m100 will be available in June at a starting price of $49.
