Polycom Provides IBM Lotus Sametime Video Solution
Polycom, Inc. has announced that its new integrated telepresence and desktop video collaboration and solution for IBM Unified Communication and Collaboration, Polycom Unified Collaboration Solution for IBM Lotus Sametime, is now available. The solution is designed to let users connect and collaborate with ease, while helping organizations improve productivity, make swifter decisions, and reduce costs by lowering the need to travel.
The Polycom Unified Collaboration Solution combines Polycom's UC Intelligent Core visual communication platform and its personal and room telepresence solutions with IBM's Lotus Sametime platform. The result is an end-to-end solution, where users can click to call or conference with voice, video, telepresence, or unified conferencing from presence-enabled contacts, while allowing Lotus Sametime Web conferencing users to start Instant Meetings, or include voice and video conferences in a scheduled web conference.
"Since no single vendor offers a complete UC portfolio, customers face the reality of using multiple vendors," says UCStrategies UC Expert Lisa Pierce. "Towards that end, this has been a busy week for Polycom. Its recent announcements with Lotus Sametime and with ADTRAN/Broadsoft, clearly show that Polycom appreciates the issues customers face when considering integrating IP videoconferencing with messaging, UC and IP telephony.” Pierce adds, “Polycom is working hard to make it the easy choice for IP videoconferencing across large, medium and small businesses."
Polycom, along with its partners and integrators, provide supporting services for customers, in order to help them plan, deploy, and manage the offering. The solution is interoperable with all the current standards-based telepresence and video conferencing systems, and does not change the server interface. The Polycom Unified Collaboration Solution for IBM Lotus Sametime is available through Polycom channel partners now.
