Siemens Enterprise Communications, in response to its growth in the small and medium-sized business market, has announced the full integration of its OpenScape Office Platform with VMware's ZIMBRA and Apple's Mac OS, as well as the inclusion of the Business Applications Launcher.
This enhancement provides the company's SMB users with deeper groupware integration, as well as integration into business applications. This is in response to a 75% increase in OpenScape Office sales, due in part to the growth in SMB business performance last year.
OpenScape integrates with the VMware Zimbra Collaboration Server, an enterprise-class email, calendar, and collaboration server that gives SMBs UC services built into their messaging platform for a single unified communications solution.
According to Blair Pleasant of UCStrategies, “Siemens conducted research into various groupware applications and determined that by integrating with Zimbra, its resellers could sell a solution for those customers that wanted a premise-based solution.” She added, “Resellers can sell a complete system with OpenScape Office and Zimbra. VMware cloud, providing a more complete collaboration offering.”
Another new capability give Apple Mac customers access to an enhanced user interface and Mac OS support, thanks to the improved OpenScape Office solution. OpenScape Office myPortal is now available for Windows and Mac users, as well as mobile devices of all kinds.
Also included in the OpenScape Office expanded features are Open Directory Service, Microsoft Office 365 support and OpenScape Office Application launcher. OpenScape Office Application Launcher is a client application that allows the launch of third-party business applications based on Caller Identification (CLI). For use in contact centers, it enables the ability to launch any application based on an incoming call, while providing more context around the caller. Administrators, resellers or end users can configure screen pops that presents data on the caller that can be retrieved from the central CRM database. This functionality is now included in the system and doesn't require additional software or hardware.
