Microsoft's strategy for migrating enterprise organizations to UC is based on end user communication efficiencies and productivity that is becoming more dependent on visual interfaces, text messaging and wireless mobility. Selectively implementing unified messaging, multimodal mobile devices, and desktop IP softphones may well offer easier and practical UC migration steps, including faster ROIs, instead of first replacing enterprise TDM phone systems for everybody.
