UCStrategies Debate: Is Presence Dead? by Phil Edholm

In this Industry Buzz podcast, the UCStrategies Experts debate a topic posed in an recent NoJitter article by Dr. Brent Kelly, The Death of Presence. Originally seen as one of the cornerstones of UC, presence is coming under question. In the new Spark offering from Cisco there is no concept of presence, having been replaced by rooms and messages. Also, many organizations report that the validity of presence information is questionable and that many users, especially millennials, prefer to message first, regardless of presence state. The podcast discusses the role and value of presence in UC systems as well as the outlook for other technologies to provide more comprehensive capabilities. Phil Edholm moderates the conversation, which includes Experts Roberta J. Fox, Jon Arnold, Dr. Joseph Williams, Steve LeadenArt Rosenberg, J.R. Simmons, and Michael Finneran.
